As a self-proclaimed “foodie” who keeps a list of restaurants stored in my phone at all times, I’m usually well equipped when suggestions are needed. But I let my dad take the lead this past weekend when my parents came to town to celebrate Father’s Day. We ventured downtown to a charming little bakery called The Bread Lounge per their recommendation, and since bread is one of my favorite foods ever, the name alone had me sold. I can be reluctant to leave the convenience of my own neighborhood, especially when competing with a city that’s notorious for its traffic, but the extra effort was rewarded with one of the most refreshing iced lattes I’ve ever had, a tomato, mozzarella and basil-pesto sandwich with freshly baked bread, and a pain au chocolat that rivaled anything in Paris. It was a nice change of scenery and we even squeezed in enough time to take some quick photos nearby while my supportive, patient and easily amused dad snapped pictures of the whole thing from his iPhone.
