Draped In Black

Long Black Dress

This past weekend involved a bit of a wardrobe panic. I had plans to attend an outdoor, rustic style wedding and didn’t end up settling on a dress until minutes before walking out the door. I had a few options in mind, which included this floor length maxi that’s ideal for formal occasions. It’s form-fitting, but the ruched detailing and black color add a forgiving touch that make the dress flattering. While I would have loved to wear it, I decided it might be too formal and opted for this dress instead, which seemed more appropriate for the setting. I normally do my own make up, but because I don’t get to dress up often, I used this occasion as an excuse to stop by Blushington, a makeup and beauty lounge that I was recently introduced to. I’ve had some disastrous makeup experiences in the past, but my visit to Blushington completely restored my faith and I left with exactly what I had hoped for; something a bit more dramatic than I’d normally wear, while still being me. If you have a chance to visit one of their three locations, I highly recommend stopping by for some pampering. If not just for the makeup, you’ll love the gorgeous decor, friendly staff and complimentary glass of champagne that’s provided with each service.
