I don’t typically post about my hair or beauty routine, but like most girls, I’m passionate about both, so I thought it would be fun to mix things up by sharing some of my favorite hair products as of late. I had read rave reviews of Mermaid’s line of products, and recently ditched my drugstore shampoo and conditioner in favor of their shampoo, conditioner and shine spray. It’s not often I splurge on beauty products (hence my loyalty to said drugstore brands), but every so often I like to treat myself to more high-quality products, and I think it’s important to adjust your routine depending on the season and needs of your skin and hair.
I settled on Mermaid’s line, mostly because of the positive reviews (and the cute packaging didn’t hurt either, to be completely frank), but I love the fact that their products are made with all natural ingredients, right here in Los Angeles. I’ve been incorporating the shampoo and conditioner into my hair washing routine these past few weeks and am so pleased with how soft and silky the combo leaves my hair. I catch myself running my fingers through my hair constantly since making the switch. And to top it off, my hair has a wonderful tropical (but not artificial) scent after each wash.
The product that probably has me the most excited though, is the Shine Spray. Not only does it tame fly-aways without weighing my hair down, but it adds just the right amount of texture to hold a curl, so I’ve happily retired my sticky hairspray. I used it here to set my curls (which I created using this curling iron), but when I’m aiming for a more effortless look, I’ll spray it on my wet hair after the shower and scrunch the ends to achieve more natural, beach waves. The consistency is similar to that of a sea salt spray, but unlike many of the brands I’ve tried, it doesn’t leave a crunchy, oily residue.
