If you were to do a quick search through the fashion section of my blog, it wouldn’t take long before you came across a few of the numerous posts dedicated to my love for dresses, rompers and jumpsuits. The same would be true if you were to take a peek into my closet. Their ubiquity is no coincidence, and the reason I’m so loyal to them is because they all offer one incredible thing in common: one-and-done dressing. Nothing beats the convenience of slipping on a single piece of clothing and heading out the door, and with the warm temperatures this time of year, there’s no better season to take advantage of them.
When I think of an ideal summer outfit, breathable, effortless, playful and feminine come to mind. This dress offers all of that and more. The cinched sleeves, ruffled hem and floral print make it flirty and feminine, and even with the lining to prevent it from being sheer, the fabric is practically weightless.
Walmart recently added new premium brands through their partnership with Lord & Taylor, which is where I scored this Lucky Brand dress and bracelet, as well as these Ray-Ban sunglasses. The dress speaks for itself, so I didn’t want to distract from it by adding too many accessories, with the exception of some minimal jewelry, sunglasses, a classic pair of Keds sneakers and a denim jacket to carry it into the evening. I love the juxtaposition of pairing a feminine dress with casual sneakers like I did here, but it looks just as good when styled with heels or wedges for a more dressed up look.
Ordering clothes online can be such a gamble, but I was blown away by all of the pieces I ordered from Walmart’s fashion brands (and admittedly, their free 2-day shipping policy for orders over $35 was a life savor when I realized I’d forgotten to order a couple of pieces for this outfit, just days before I was scheduled to shoot it). The dress was ultimately my favorite from my order, but I ended up keeping a few other things that I absolutely loved, including this crewneck sweatshirt, these racerback tank tops, and this button down shirt that I wore here.
