Soft Meets Edgy

Faux Leather Pencil Skirt I Adorned With Love

Sweater: Madewell (identical version here), Skirt: Sheinside c/o, Heels: Express, Clutch: (similar here), Bracelet: Gorjana c/o, Lipstick: Lancome in “Lucky Kiss”, Nail Polish: Essie in “Olé Caliente”

A black pencil skirt is one of those items you’re bound to find in every girl’s closet. They’re undeniably classic, and a great staple for interviews, meetings, and/or work. But it wasn’t until recently that I owned a leather one (or in this case faux leather), and I’m already having so much fun styling it. Since they’re a bit edgier by nature, I prefer to balance it with a softer look up top. A knitted sweater is the perfect juxtaposition to the sleek leather this time of year, and I think it would look just as  great with a light flannel or basic tee come spring.

Aw, thank you Erica! So glad to hear that. To be completely honest, I wasn’t sure I could pull a leather skirt off, but I think balancing it with a soft sweater makes it a lot more wearable.

Random, but this so reminds me of Mean Girls – something I remember the costume director saying. She always tried to mix tough and soft pieces for Regina, like this leather skirt and soft sweater. Love that skirt! It’s such a great deal!
