This Lemon Rosemary Yogurt Cake just may be one of my favorites to date. I was introduced to it when my roommate made it a few weeks ago. I loved it so much that I insisted she share the recipe with me because I knew it was one of those recipes I'd want to make for years to come. It's satisfyingly sweet, but the lemon and rosemary give it the perfect balance of tart and savory that keep the cake from tasting too rich. I could finish it in a few sittings, but if you can exhibit more self-control, I think it's even better after it's been sitting...

Los Angeles has no shortage of delicious restaurants, but if there's one place I frequent more than any other, it's Huckleberry Bakery & Cafe. My mom loves it just as much as I do, and she regularly finds excuses to "visit me" so we can catch up over their savory breakfast dishes, flavorful sandwiches, and incredible pastries (seriously, some of the best ever). Fortunately, Huckleberry owner Zoe Nathan recently compiled all of her secrets into a cookbook, and I pre-ordered a copy for each of us so that we could recreate some of Zoe's magic at home (I figured this should hold us over between visits)....

Baking has always been one of my favorite hobbies, and there's just something about this time of year that makes cozying up in the kitchen over delicious recipes that much more appealing. I have such fond memories of cooking with my mom while I was growing up, so when I was home for a brief visit last weekend, I suggested we combine forces in the kitchen for old times' sake. She's the true master, but I like to believe that some of her talent has rubbed off on me over the years. She suggested a recipe from Barefoot Contessa called, "Easy Cranberry & Apple Cake."...

Less Is More – Rustic Valentine’s Day Cake

Rustic Valentine's Cake

There is something romantic, understated, and sophisticated about an unfinished cake. This isn't to say that I'm averse to more complex cakes with detailed exteriors, but the less is more saying holds true for me in this case. (It also doesn't hurt that there's less guilt when the frosting only covers half of the surface area.) I'd been wanting to try my hand at this rustic style cake, and thought Valentine's Day would be the perfect occasion to do so. Not only was I pleased from an aesthetic standpoint, but the flavor definitely did not disappoint. I used this...

Valentine’s Day Conversation Cake

While I love the concept of conversation heart candies, I've never been a particularly big fan of their artificial flavor. But since they play such a nostalgic role in Valentine's Day, I decided to incorporate the tradition into much tastier creation that could be shared by many. (Cake recipe adapted from here / frosting...
