Homemade Acai Bowls

Homemade Acai Bowls

One of my favorite things to do when the weekend rolls around is to head to my nearest juice shop for a fresh green juice and an acai bowl (my favorite is this one). I'm well aware of how cliche that sounds coming from an LA resident, but there's just something about starting your morning off with a nutritious breakfast that sets the tone for a productive day. I often recreate my favorite green juice at home with my NutriBullet, but I never considered attempting my beloved acai bowls. To be honest, I wasn't even sure where one could buy acai. Was...

HEALTHY ZUCCHINI FRITTERS WITH GREEK YOGURT
Food, Snacks
I came across a recipe for zucchini fritters a few weeks back, and was so blown away by how good they were, that I've been making them weekly ever since. So after an indulgent Fourth of July weekend filled with heavy barbecue, drinking and rich desserts, it was time to get back to a more healthy routine. Though the original recipe was fine, I made a few tweaks to make it even healthier, without sacrificing the buttery flavor that I loved. These fritters have become my go-to for a quick and healthy snack lately, and since they're so easy to make, I...

Fruit & Yogurt Breakfast Popsicles
Food, Snacks
Along with warm summer days comes cravings for fresh fruit, refreshing popsicles, and of course, ice cream. Unfortunately only one of those is healthy, but Martha Stewart recently featured a recipe for Fruit and Yogurt Breakfast Popsicles that combines two of my favorite foods into a healthy alternative to the store-bought fruit popsicles that lack valuable nutrients. I hadn't made popsicles before, so I ordered these popsicle molds on a whim with the hope that they would turn out to be a useful investment. Not only were the popsicles delicious, but they were so easy to make. And with endless recipe possibilities, I intend on making them all summer....

Honeydew Smoothie With A Twist

I've never had the discipline for juice cleanses. No solid food for days? No thanks. I am, however, a big believer in incorporating juices and smoothies into my diet. When I'm not buying them at juiceries around LA, I'm making them at home with my Nutri Bullet. I generally keep the ingredients simple, combining standard greens like spinach and kale with some of my favorite fruits, but when Williams-Sonoma invited me to partake in their "Not Your Typical Smoothie" challenge, I jumped at the chance to get a little more creative. The goal was to create a smoothie that was uniquely different from something you might...

I always assumed that as I got older I'd outgrow the days of ordering indulgent dishes for breakfast (or really any meal for that matter). But it turns out my sweet tooth is prominent as ever, and so is my lack of discipline. I'm coming to terms with the fact that I may never mature into the girl who "craves" salads, but since I'm a relatively healthy eater during the week, I cut myself some slack once the weekend rolls around, especially since brunch is one of my favorite ways to celebrate the days off. I typically alternate between cereal and oatmeal for breakfast at home, but...
